AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

The man accused of killing three people and wounding three others including Auburn football players will appear in court.

Desmonte Leonard's preliminary hearing is set for July 11 at 9 a.m.

The incident happened earlier this month at University Heights Apartments in Auburn. Leonard faces three counts of capital murder and is accused of opening fire at the pool party after getting into a fight with some of the victims over a woman.

Leonard turned himself in without incident to U.S. Marshals after statewide manhunt.

His defense attorneys filed motions asking the judge for permission to take Leonard to the scene of the crime.

Attorneys hope the visit will jog Leonard's memory as they build their case. They are also asking for access to evidence and a list of witnesses interviewed about the shooting.
