AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - State health officials are trying to locate students and teachers at Auburn University who may have come in contact with a student who has tested positive for pulmonary tuberculosis.
The health department says it's particularly interested in tracking down people who might have come in close contact with the infected student, whose name isn't being released.
Public health workers also plan to meet with members of the public on Thursday at the university health center to answer questions about the illness.
Tuberculosis is a contagious disease that affects the lungs. Health officials say it's both treatable and preventable.
School officials tell health officials that the student complied with school regulations during the admissions processing by providing them with documents indicating a negative test for the disease.
