COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Good news for Columbus residents – help is coming to those who often need it fast.

The Bradley Center held a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday for a new crisis stabilization unit.

The 16 bed unit will help patients by providing a stable environment and relieve pressure on the area's  emergency rooms. Georgia's Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities will provide funding.

The unit opens its doors on Sunday July 1.
