Georgia could lose education grants

(WTVM) - Georgia stands to lose millions of dollars in education grants because of proposed changes to a new evaluation system for principals and teachers.

A letter from the U.S. Department of Education to Governor Nathan Deal said the state could lose $33 million of its $400 million Race to the Top grant if the concerns are not addressed by August 1.

Federal officials expressed concerns that the state is proposing the changes before it finds out how well the new evaluations worked.
