Chandi grew up in New Castle, Pennsylvania, which is 45 minutes from Pittsburgh and 20 minutes from the Ohio border. She has always enjoyed talking to people and finding out interesting things about their lives.
In the second grade, Chandi decided being an attorney was the career path she wanted to take, until her sophomore year of college when she decided to give news a try.
Chandi graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and started working at WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh while finishing her degree in communication. There she worked on the assignment desk and produced newscasts. She enjoyed producing and learning all aspects of the business, but Chandi yearned to be a reporter.
So it was off to Youngstown, OH where she was a producer/reporter.
Chandi also worked in Steubenville, OH at WTOV-TV where she was a full time reporter and had the opportunity to fill-in anchoring. Then she decided to go to Myrtle Beach, SC where she anchored several newscasts, learned to shoot and edit and won awards for her reporting.
Chandi said the best part of being a journalist is "affecting others in a positive way and being able to find out valuable information and give that knowledge to those who would otherwise not have the chance to learn from it."
Outside of the newsroom, Chandi enjoys cooking, traveling, volunteering in the community, watching mystery and comedy movies and having new and exciting adventures.
She also is active in the Junior Miss Program to help young girls shape their futures and loves practicing martial arts whenever she gets a chance.
She's been studying Tae Kwon Do since she was 6 years old and received her black belt when she was 9 years old.
