MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Montgomery police say a 12-year-old boy who was fatally shot on the Fourth of July was at home with three other children at the time of the incident.
The Montgomery Advertiser reports (http://on.mgmadv.com/MMOi71) Chief Kevin Murphy says 1 of the younger children in the house gained access to a shotgun and fired it. A 17-year-old girl was also babysitting at the time of the incident.
Authorities are not releasing the ages of the other two children in the house at the time. Police are also not releasing the relationship of any of the children, except that two are members of the same family.
The shooting took place shortly after noon Wednesday and is considered an accident, though police are not ruling out the possibility of criminal charges.
