MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - The Muscogee County School Board is working to find a new superintendent by next year.
On Monday night, school board members met with representatives from a hiring firm that is helping in the search.
They outlined several characteristics, including experience in a large urban district, good financial strength, visionary leadership, and good communication skills.
In the fall, community members will also have a chance to discuss what they want in a new superintendent.
"Whether it's a group of teachers or parents, business leaders, there are various stakeholders that bring different vision for our district to the table and it is important for them to hear it all," said Cathy Williams, chairwoman of the Muscogee County School Board.
Williams said they hope to interview candidates by December and have the goal to have a new superintendent by January 1.
She said, however, they won't sacrifice the quality of the candidate for that start date.
