(WOIO) -

Local aspiring hip hop artist Garrick Pitt has released what he calls "Chardon tribute." A remembrance song for the students killed at the high school on February 27.

The deadly shootings occurred just before the start of classes in the area of the High School's cafeteria.

Student TJ Lane admitted to the shooting, but offered no motive. 17-year-old Russell King, Jr., 16-year-old Daniel Parmertor and 16-year-old Demetrius Hewlin were killed. 17-year-old Nick Walczak remains paralyzed from the waist down. 18-year-old Joy Rickers and a 6th, unidentified victim were treated and released from the hospital.

"I'm one person," Pitt said. "I can't fix anything, but if I can give back and make them feel like there is support around them, that would be nice."

Pitt tells 19 Action News he has no intention of now or ever making any money of this song, it is simply a tribute. He's been sitting on the song awhile because he wanted to make sure he wasn't going to offend any of the victims families.

"It's a sensitive subject for a lot of people," Pitt said. "So I didn't want to write anything where it might offend somebody and backfire. That's not what I wanted."

Pitt has no connection to the shooting victims, but like most of us, was affected by the images he saw, the lives lost. He has a daughter, he felt the pain his own way and started writing.
