RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - Are you in need of a job or know someone who's looking?
Well, listen up! Russell County says they are hiring. The Russell County jail expansion and renovation is almost complete, weeks ahead of schedule.
It's a big project Sheriff Heath Taylor said is bringing jobs and boosting the economy.
Sheriff Taylor explained the county is looking to hire 13 new employees. The new facility will serve as a dormitory, adding 120 new beds for inmates. The county is also using a local business to furnish the new addition.
"We're able to offer 13 people in our community some employment that will bring our staff to where it should be for the number of inmates that we have and to run that new facility," said Sheriff Taylor. "We'll be in that building in September, so we're looking to have them- the thirteen people hired by the middle of August."
