COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus Police are investigating the case of a body that was found on Thursday.

Police were called to a residence off of Sims Street near Murrelle Street at 6:15 p.m. Thursday evening.  A resident stepped outside to smoke a cigarette and discovered the body of an adult female in the bushes. The residents then called 911.

The victim's age and race have not been released at this time.

WTVM Newsleader 9 received a call at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday from a viewer who said crews were already on the scene. We will keep you updated on any new developments.
