Whooping cough cases spread through Georgia

(WTVM) - The number of dangerous whooping cough cases are on the rise in Georgia.

Five people in Newton County were recently diagnosed, and a doctor at a children's hospital in Atlanta says they're seeing twice the number of cases as last year.

It's highly contagious and spread through respiratory droplets.

Infants are most at risk, which is why it's important to have infants immunized.

Those who live or work with babies need to a booster shot. Whooping cough can lead to pneumonia and even death.
