PERRY, Ga. (AP) - A bond hearing is set for a 17-year-old teenager from middle Georgia who's accused of fatally shooting her sister, then setting fire to the family home.
Carmen Collins will seek bond during a court hearing Thursday. She is charged with murder and arson in the July 3 death of 12-year-old India Collins. Investigators say Carmen Collin shot her sister her a .40-caliber handgun, then set the family home in Kathleen ablaze using gasoline. She fled the home but was arrested two days after the killing.
Defense attorney Nick White told The Telegraph of Macon that Carmen Collins says she's not guilty. White said he has information that he believes will prove her innocence, although he declined to comment in detail.
Prosecutor George Hartwig said he will oppose the attempt to seek Colllins' release on bond.
