New public safety radio network

MONTGOMERY, AL (WTVM) - Thanks to new legislation, the Alabama Department of Homeland Security is establishing a new radio network that will broadcast in emergency situations.

It's a public safety broadband channel dedicated to helping law enforcement agencies communicate better.

Officials say the initiative will have a big impact on getting medical help to a rural home and on much larger scale emergencies.

This channel will be part of a nationwide public safety network.
