COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Did you know that Georgia spends less per capita on transportation than any state except Tennessee?

On July 31 you will have the opportunity to change that by voting for the statewide transportation splost.

The 1% sales tax will go toward transportation improvement issues in 12 districts in Georgia. Each district has established a list of needs and the money raised in each of the districts stays in the district to accomplish each of those transportation projects.

There would be $545 million raised in our district over the next ten years and 30-40% of that money would be collected from people visiting and traveling in our district.

With federal funds drying up and with the fact that we have underfunded road projects for years we recommend you approve the T-SPLOST on July 31.
