Fort Benning marksman wins rifle competition in VA

QUANTICO MARINE CORPS BASE, VA (WTVM) -

Sergeant First Class Grant Singley, a marksman from Fort Benning, GA, won the Inter-service Rifle Individual Championship at Quantico Marine Corp. Base in Virginia. 

This is Singley's last inter-service rifle match as a member of the U.S. Army's Marksmanship unit. He is retiring after 23 years on the team.

"It's been an amazing opportunity to excel in marksmanship. I shot very well as a civilian before I came in. It gave me the equipment and the training opportunities to be one of the best shooters in the country," said Sergeant First Class Grant Singley. " Every day in training we are shooting against the best shooter in the country. To be the top ranger means you beat some of the best shooters in the country. It's an extremely high level of performance at all times" 

Each marksman in this competition comes equip with the same tools they would need in a combat mission.
