Sheriff Donny Turner announces the arrest of 28-year-old Ravyn Lashelle McCrary of Cusseta, AL, for introducing contraband into the Troup County Jail.
On July 12, McCrary brought a plastic bag containing clothing for an inmate, Jacalvious Marquez Ricks, who was scheduled to go to court July 16.
Once the clothing had been dropped off, McCrary left the jail. The clothing was inspected for contraband by detention officers, who found four small bags of suspected marijuana concealed inside the hemming of a pair of pant legs. Warrants were obtained for McCrary's arrest by the Troup County Sheriff's Office shortly after the incident.
On July 25, when McCrary returned to visit inmate Ricks she was advised of the warrants for her arrest. In an interview with Troup County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit Agents, McCrary admitted to rolling the marijuana into cigarettes and sewing them into the pant legs to be delivered to Ricks.
As a result, Ravyn Lashelle McCrary was arrested and charged with Crossing the Guardline with contraband, prohibited possession of inmate contraband and distribution of marijuana. Ricks was also charged with prohibited possession of inmate contraband.
