GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Officials say a man who was pulled from Lake Lanier by Forsyth County rescue crews has died.
Forsyth County fire spokesman Capt. Jason Shivers tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/NZn9xA ) that the 44-year-old man disappeared in the water around 3 p.m. Thursday.
Shivers says the man was found within an hour about 50 feet off shore in 11 feet of water. He was not breathing. Crews performed CPR before transporting him to Northside Hospital Forsyth, where he was pronounced dead.
The man's name was not immediately available.
Shivers says family and friends saw the man disappear in the water near a picnic area at West Bank Park off Buford Dam Road and notified a park attendant. Crews located the man on the first underwater dive.
