COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Funeral services for Columbus sporting legend Willie Bowman will be at the Taylor Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Bowman hawked programs, peanuts, and just about everything else at Golden Park and other Columbus sporting venues for more than four decades.
He died Monday at age 77.
The personable "goody-goody peanut man" became synonymous with sports in Columbus. He even rated his own bobble head in a baseball promotion in 2002 and was featured in a story on ESPN.
Visitation was held at the Taylor Funeral Home in Phenix City on Friday from 1 to 8 pm.
We may get another baseball team here someday, but there will only be one Willie Bowman.
