MACON, GA (WTVM) - The remains of a Georgia soldier who went missing during the Korean War have been returned home.
Sergeant Thomas Jefferson Barksdale was killed in combat while fighting in North Korea in 1950.
Barksdale was listed as missing in action and his remains were not returned by Communist forces during the war.
Excavation teams recovered his remains in 2000, and several years later he was identified using DNA testing.
A funeral service is planned for Friday in Macon.
