LaGrange police launch tool that allows for anonymous tips

LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - The LaGrange Police Department has launched a new tool that will let you send anonymous tips online or by using an app or text message.

The program is called TipSoft and is already used by the Crime Stoppers Program in Columbus.

It allows agencies and tipsters to have a two-way conversation that is secure and anonymous. The service encrypts text messages so personal information is hidden.

Just send a text message to "CRIMES" (274637) with the keyword "LaGrange" from a mobile phone.

TipSoft says to date it has received more than 2 million tips, 145,000 arrests have been made, 55,000 fugitives caught, more than $5.3 billion recovered in drugs and property, 11,000 vehicles recovered, and 22,000 weapons recovered.
