As families prepare their back to school shopping budgets, high gas prices continue to sting wallets.
Since dropping as low as $2.95 on July 4, prices have climbed more than 40 cents in just a month.
Right now the average price in the fountain city is about $3.40 a gallon. The best deal in town is at the Fuel Tech on Forrest Road and Floyd Road at $3.33 per gallon.
The average price in Auburn is about $3.35. Murphy USA on South College Street has the lowest price at $3.29 a gallon.
