(WTVM) - Another sales tax holiday weekend is in the books in Alabama.
Retailers saw a surge in customers hitting the stores, hoping to cash in on those back to school deals.
The Alabama Retail Association says stores saw strong sales and big crowds.
Some people worry the sales tax holiday will hinder the economy as the state and local governments lose out on those tax dollars.
However, directors say because state law has public schools starting later this year, those extra couple of weeks will mean big boosts for retailers.
Georgia's tax free weekend begins Friday August 10 and will go through Sunday August 12.
