AUGUSTA, GA (WTVM) - A Georgia teenager is being called a hero for rescuing a child from a fire Monday.
The fire broke out in the kitchen of a home in Augusta, killing a man and trapping his three daughters inside.
Two of the children escaped, but a five-year-old was too scared to leave her bedroom.
The teen neighbor saw the flames and ran to help.
"So, I was just banging on the door, banging on the window, banging on the window," said Falene Ross. "And I just heard like his daughter cry. So, I was like, 'oh my God, the girl's in there', so I go to the side of the house, snatch out the screen, open up the window, and when that happened I was like, 'can you come here, can you grab my hand?, could you grab my hand. Please grab my hand.'"
All three girls are recovering in the hospital. The American Red Cross is assisting the family with food, clothing and shelter.
