Epperly Tire fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes Research fund set for Aug. 22

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - On Wednesday Aug. 22, Epperly Tire and Auto Center will continue their Changing Oil Changing Lives event by donating 100 percent of the oil change proceeds to the Georgia Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The event will take place from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. The centers located at 1642 Whittlesey Road and at 7608 Schomburg Road will participate.

"We are so excited to announce this month's recipient for our Changing Oil Changing Lives program," said David Epperly, owner of Epperly Tire and Auto Center. "The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is truly making a difference in the lives of those affected by diabetes in our community."

Out of every dollar earned, $.85 goes directly to research for the disease.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is dedicated to raising funds and providing support for type 1 diabetes research. The organization strives to accelerate the progress of the most promising opportunities for better treating, preventing, and curing the disease, thus improving the lives of every person affected by type 1 diabetes.

"Any donation made brings us one step closer to a cure for this disease," said Stephanie Callahan, who serves as special events chair on the JDRF Board of Directors. "Because of the donations made to date, people suffering from the disease can live – but it is not a cure."
