(WTVM) - Arson is the third leading cause of wildfires in Georgia, and the Georgia Forestry Commission is stepping up its battle against them.
Grant money will be used to develop a southeast arson task force that will allow Georgia and 13 other states to share resources in major arson investigations.
Forestry investigators will train here in Georgia.
Last year there were more than one thousand suspicious fires in the state that burned 25,000 acres of forest.
The Forestry Commission is also launching an ad campaign to make the public more aware of wildland arson.
