COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
As the heat continues, we rely on air conditioners or fans to stay cool.
But some people don't have a way to beat the heat and that's why we teamed up with the Valley Rescue Mission in Columbus.
In July when we started the WTVM Fan Club, Valley Rescue Mission had no fans to give out to those in need in the Chattahoochee Valley.
Over the last month, we've received a large outpouring of support from many of our viewers.
"I know the program will still be going on for a few more weeks," said Donna Pearce of Valley Rescue Mission. "We'd love to see that number hit 200. Right now it's 191; 200 would be a nice round number to say that channel 9 viewers contributed and made life more comfortable for their neighbors here in the Chattahoochee Valley."
Pearce said the mission has given out almost 400 fans so far, which is nearly double what they gave last summer.
If you would still like to donate a new or gently used fan, you can drop it off here at the WTVM studio on Wynnton Road in Columbus, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The last day to donate is Friday, August 31.
