COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Jury selection began Monday morning for a man accused of killing a Muscogee County school superintendent 20 years ago.
Kareem Lane is charged in the 1992 murder of Jim Burns. Prosecutors say Lane stabbed Burns with a knife during a burglary in Burns' home on Broadway.
At the time of the stabbing, Lane was a 17-year-old student at Shaw High School.
The cold case came to light last year after investigators found new DNA evidence on the murder weapon allegedly linking Lane to the crime.
The judge has issued a gag order in the case. The trial is set to begin in two weeks.
