Country's BBQ, Big Dog Running Co. hosting annual Midnight Express 5K this weekend

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Lace up your running shoes and get ready, set, go for a good cause.

Big Dog Running Company and Country's Barbecue are teaming up to host Country's Midnight Express 5K this Saturday Aug. 25. It will begin at 11:59 p.m. at the Country's Barbecue located on Mercury Drive in Columbus.

According to Country's website, The Midnight Express started in the 1970s as a handful of people running through the neighborhoods around Cross Country Hill as a way to signal the end of summer. Now, it has grown into an annual 5K road race bringing together more than 2,000 runners nationwide to raise money for the visually impaired.

Running not your thing? Not a problem – there will be live music, vendors, food, cheerleaders and 1,000 of your closest friends to bring in the fall with.

Be sure to check out their Facebook page to see pictures from previous Midnight Express 5Ks.
