COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
Joseph Brannan, a delegate and member of the Columbus Republican party, is one of several folks from our area attending the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
So far, Brannan says the convention has proved to be very beneficial for the GOP bringing the group together and rallying around Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.
"I was really impressed with Ann Romney. I had not heard her speak in a long forum and she just wowed everyone with her speech," Brannan said.
Alton Russell spearheads a number of different efforts in Columbus with the Republican Party. He, like Brannon, says the convention has only brought the Republican Party closer together.
"I think all the speakers have been very positive and upbeat with talking about the America that we want it to be," Russell said.
Brannon says he's sure they're ready to go head-to-head with President Obama and Democrats in November.
"The big difference that you are seeing right now is the Republican party has answers," Brannan said. "They have a plan where as the Democrats plan at least thus far has been to talk about how well to do Mitt Romney has been or how successful he has been and to talk down on Mitt Romney rather than talking about their plan to fix our struggling economy."
The group is expected head back to Columbus on Friday.
