Woman robbed after giving man a ride

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police are searching for a man who robbed the woman after asking her for a ride early Tuesday morning.  

 A 21-year-old woman and her friend were approached by a man who said someone had left him at the Circle K on Floyd Rd. He offered to give her $10 for a ride if she agreed to take him home in her 2006 Dodge Stratus at 4:30 a.m.

The man then led her to Bernard St. and Melon St. where he got out of the car and pulled a pistol from his pocket. He pointed the gun at the driver and demanded money. The woman threw her purse to him and left. The purse contained $140 in cash along with her personal identification cards.

The woman described the man as black and approximately 22 years old. He is 5'5" and 150 pounds, and was last seen wearing a hat, NASCAR jacket and jeans. If you have any information you are asked to call the Columbus Police Department at 706-653-3205.
