Epperly Tire hosts fundraiser for Goodwill Industries

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

On September 19, the Bradley Park and Schomburg Rd. Epperly Tire locations will continue their Changing Oil Changing Lives event by donating 100 percent of the oil change proceeds to Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers.

"Goodwill is such a highly respected and well-run organization," said Epperly Tire owner, David Epperly. "We couldn't think of a better recipient for this month's campaign."

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers is dedicated to reducing poverty, underemployment and unemployment in the surrounding area. The organization works toward this ongoing social mission by generating revenue through their affiliated stores to support job training, placement and advancement in their career centers.

In 2011, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, which spans 50 counties in West Georgia and East Alabama, served 26,447 people and placed over 3,500 individuals into jobs. The economic impact of these accomplishments was $51.2 million for the year.

"We thank Epperly Tire for their support of Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers," said Yolanda Stephen, Goodwill's communications manager. "This event really does speak to developing people, changing lives and building communities."
