COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
Columbus State University is hosting an open house and offering tours of its newest student housing at CSU's RiverPark campus in Uptown Columbus on Wednesday Sept. 5.
It will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Rankin located at 10th Street and Broadway.
CSU President Tim Mescon will deliver brief comments after light refreshments are served. Tours of the new housing are in the Oglethorpe Building, adjacent to The Rankin, and in the Yancey Building at One Arsenal. A shuttle service from The Rankin to the Yancey Center at One Arsenal Place on Front Street will be available.
The reason behind the open house and tours is to highlight CSU's continued growth and investment in the downtown Columbus community. The projects complement the opening of Fontaine Hall, a W.C. Bradley Development managed by CSU.
It has 18 apartments that house 37 students. There will also be 31 students living in15 new studio apartments on the ground floor of CSU's Yancey Center at One Arsenal Place. This is in addition to two dozen students currently housed in similar new studio apartments in the Oglethorpe Building on First Avenue.
These projects added 92 beds to CSU's RiverPark campus and bring the total of CSU students living in downtown Columbus to almost 450.
