After much debate and a unanimous vote from the board, Edgewood Elementary and Marshall Middle schools will close their doors for the final time next Friday. But what happens after next week?
A fine dining hot spot in Opelika has been nationally recognized.
Jimmy's has been named number 16 of the Top 25 American regional restaurants in the 2012 Opinionated About Dining awards.
Jimmy's is located in the heart of downtown Opelika, and has been bringing the area a taste of authentic New Orleans cuisine since opening in 2005.
"Restaurants that are very well known in New Orleans that are pretty big names, that have been around for a long time, and we're sorta in there with them and we're very happy to be there," said Jim Sikes, owner and chef of Jimmy's.
Jimmy's is one of only 45 restaurants in Alabama and Georgia that offers gluten-free options.
The 2012 OA dining awards results were based on more than 70,000 reviews contributed by more than 3,000 people.
