News Leader Nine has learned that Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower is officially out of the race to get his job back.
Muscogee County Elections Director Nancy Boren tells us Thrower did not meet the deadline to publish his intentions to run for re-election as a write-in candidate, which he apparently did today, two days late.
With no Republican on the ballot, that means Buddy Bryan is the only candidate left and will be the next Muscogee County Coroner if he gets at least one vote in the election November 6. We talked to Bryan at his home just a few hours ago.
Bryan, a local mortician, says he looks forward to working with the community, as coroner. As for Thrower, a judge originally made him ineligible because of a qualifying fee paid late, then he failed to get the signatures needed, to run as an independent.
