COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Two local child protection workers are now on paid leave following accusations they falsified documents to keep millions of dollars in federal grants.

Phyllis Mitchell and Deborah Cobb were arrested Wednesday.

Both worked at the Muscogee County branch of the Division of Family and Children Services.

They're accused of failing to investigate child abuse in a timely manner, falsifying child abuse reports to make it appear they complied with federal guidelines, and encouraging others to lie in sworn statements.
