Family looks back a year after woman killed in Idle Hour Park

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

One year later, there are still no answers in the murder case of 38-year-old Ramona Fairwell.

Fairwell was found shot to death in Idle Hour Park in Phenix City. To this day, family members are still in shock and can't believe Ramona Fairwell's life was cut short.

"I didn't know what to do what to say, I was speechless, I say Ramona out of all people, Ramona. She didn't bother anybody," said Sylvia Beasley, Fairwell's cousin.

Beasley is calling on investigators and anyone with information to come forward so that the family can finally have a peace of mind.

"When you walking the streets somebody see my shirt or they know my face they always want to tell me something don't tell me," Beasley said. "Call 911."

Candles were lit Monday evening to remember and honor Fairwell. She leaves behind a daughter and husband. Curtis Marshall, another cousin, says he still misses Fairwell's smile.

"She got something funny to say that's going to make everybody's day brighter, if you were feeling down she's the person that's going to bring you up," Marshall said.

Anyone with information in this case should call Phenix City investigators at (334) 448-2891.
