DALLAS - Georgia outside linebacker Jarvis Jones has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for games of the weekend of Sept. 8.

In a come-from-behind 41-20 victory at Missouri, the 6-3, 241-pound junior from Columbus, Ga.,  had nine tackles, two sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and five quarterback pressures.

Jones returned his first career interception in the final quarter to the Missouri 1-yard line, setting up a score that made it 34-20. On Missouri's next possession, Jones sacked Missouri quarterback James Franklin for a loss of 11 yards and forced a fumble that the Bulldogs recovered deep in Tiger territory.

Jones, a 2011 FWAA All-American, is on the 2012 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. Five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be announced by the Football Writers Association of America on Nov. 15. The winner will be revealed on Dec. 3
