OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) -

Opelika police have now identified two people who were killed in a shooting late Wednesday afternoon.

The victims are 25-year-old Jamarius Lockhart and 20-year-old Stephen Bynum, both from Opelika.

Police found the two men around 6 p.m. CDT on York Avenue with gunshot wounds to their upper torsos. They were pronounced dead around 7 p.m. CDT.

These are the fourth and fifth murders of the year in Opelika.

Police are still conducting interviews and preliminary investigation has not revealed information on a suspect or possible motive.

They are asking anyone with information to call the Opelika Police Department at (334)705-5200 or 334-745-8665 for their secret witness hotline.
