MOST WANTED: James Bernard Smith

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

At this time Columbus Police are looking for 32-year-old James Bernard Smith for questioning concerning possible inappropriate behavior with a child.

Investigators are hoping you can help them locate him and answer some very important questions.

Officer Deborah Whitley with the Columbus Police Department told News Leader 9 "Police responded on March 13th to an accusation of child molestation. When police arrived they spoke with the persons in question."

That's when police learned that Smith frequently visited a friend's home to shower and sleep on the floor. When the friend began questioning Smith about possible foul play with a child there, Smith suddenly disappeared.

That's where police say you come in. If you know where Smith maybe hiding out they're asking you to call them or click onto isolvecrime.com and leave your tip.

"All of the text tips and our web page tips have come in very handy and a lot of our crimes have been solved with it so far says Whitley.

Smith is 5'9" and weighs 180 pounds. He's been known to hang around the Cusseta Road area of Columbus.

If you know the whereabouts of James Bernard Smith call the Valley Area Crime Stoppers at (706) 653-3188. Remember, if your information leads to an arrest you could receive a cash reward.
