Jury deadlocks in Kareem Lane murder trial

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

So far, the jury in the Kareem Lane trial has not been able to make a decision on whether to convict Lane or set him free.

Lane is accused of stabbing former Muscogee County schools Superintendent Jim Burns to death in 1992.

The state said DNA left on the knife gave them enough evidence to arrest Lane in 2010.

Hundreds of pieces of evidence and dozens of witnesses have been presented to jurors over the course of the two-week trial.

The jury is deadlocked as of Tuesday afternoon, and the judge has sent them back to deliberate further.

News Leader 9 is following this case. We'll have the latest information as soon as it becomes available.
