COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police have caught the man that allegedly left a father of 10 dead.

Monday night around 9:00, military police found Sandy Mitchell at Fort Benning.  They arrested him and turned him over to the Columbus Police Department.

Police believe Mitchell shot Byron Brown, 59, in the driver's seat of his Yellow Cab van at the intersection of Munson Drive and Shelby Street early Sunday morning.

Mitchell is charged with murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Sandy Mitchell is currently being at the Muscogee county Jail and will have his first hearing in Recorder's Court this Thursday.
