OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) -

An 11-year-old boy died in a house fire Monday night in Opelika. Officials received a call about a fire on Bulloch Street around 10:45 p.m. When crews arrived, the home was "well-involved" in flames.

It took emergency teams about 14 minutes to locate Nicholas Dennison, 11, in the back bedroom of the burning home.  He was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two other siblings were inside the home at the time, but managed to get out.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. Dennison's body has been taken to the state crime for an autopsy.

A family friend told News Leader 9 the family's power was turned off and they were using candles.

We'll have a full report beginning on News Leader 9 at Six.
