HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Toyota engine plant in Huntsville is expanding.

An official groundbreaking ceremony was held at the facility Tuesday morning. The expansion makes way for an increase in production of V6 engines.

This is the fourth expansion in ten years and the new facility will mean new jobs for the area.

Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle talked about what the increase in production will do for the area.

"This means another 150 jobs, another 150 jobs means a $4 million impact to the community year in and year out, just in payroll," said Battle.

Toyota officials hope to have the expansion completed and turning out engines by March, 2014.
