Officials respond to shooting threat at high school

HARRIS COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - News Leader 9 received a viewer tip Friday morning about a rumor spreading through Harris County High School about a shooting that could happen at their football game tonight.

We've been told that there will be extra police and security at the Harris County High School football game.

Harris County Schools Superintendent Craig Dowling told us there was a fight at the school on Tuesday between two different groups of students.

Someone from one of the groups posted on Facebook after the fight there would be a shooting at their football game tonight.

The superintendent tells us that the kids involved have been suspended and some are not even allowed on the campus.

He also tells us that they have taken preventative measures, and even though they believe that this rumor may be untrue, they are still treating it as if it is.

We do have a crew out in Harris County now speaking with the superintendent and the sheriff to figure out more details, and exactly how many students are missing from school due to this incident.

News Leader 9 will continue following this story. We'll have the latest information as soon as it becomes available.
