COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

On Friday,October 5 at 4 p.m.  Columbus Area Habitat will hold a Blessing of the Build ceremony for the2012 Building on Faith project set to begin Saturday, October 6. 

Congregationsfrom area churches, along with Brookstone School, have committed time, talentsand resources to construct a new home for the Arrington family at 1018 39thStreet. The first walls are set to be raised Saturday morning by BrookstoneSchool students on this three bedroom home.

"Thisis a wonderful opportunity for the Presbyterians to live out their faith," saidJones Doughton, Associate Pastor, with First Presbyterian Church.  Tim Kennedy, Brookstone School HabitatChapter President, said, "I am always amazed at how Brookstone students lookforward to building a home together for a deserving Columbus family." 

Thisyear will be the eighth year that Brookstone has constructed a new home inColumbus and the fourteenth year for Building on Faith.

On Friday,October 12 at 10 a.m., Habitat will dedicate the home of Wanda Banks at 2043Cusseta Road.  The students of WashingtonCollege constructed this home during last spring's Collegiate Challengebuilding blitz. 

For their effortsin working with the Habitat affiliates in Columbus, Washington College, locatedin Chestertown, Maryland, recently won the "Build a Future" contest that Barnes &Noble sponsored for all its campus stores.

Thesetwo homes represent the 271st and 272nd homes built byColumbus Area Habitat for Humanity, an independent, non-profit, ecumenicalChristian housing ministry which partners with people of all beliefs.  Habitat has been building in Columbus since1984.
