Omega Psi Phi Fraternity hosts health fair, talent hunt and voter registration drive

The Georgia State Organization of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is proud to announce the 49th GA State Workshop will occur in Columbus, GA (October 4-7, 2012).

The organization has a plethora of events scheduled to include a Public Agenda Program, Health Fair, Mentoring Event, Voter Registration Drive, a Statewide Talent Hunt Program, Founders Banquet (open to the public) and will make a substantial donation to a local Food Bank.

  • Public Agenda Program, 9:00am October 5, 2012 Columbus Convention & Trade Center
  • Presentation of donation to local Food Bank 9:45am October 5, 20012 Columbus Convention & Trade Center
  • Voter Registration Drive, 9:00am -3:00pm, October 5, 2012 Columbus Convention & Trade Center
  • Health Fair, 10am-3:00pm October 5, 2012, Columbus Convention & Trade Center
  • Statewide Talent Hunt for the Performing Arts 7:00pm October 5, 2012, Columbus Convention & Trade Center
  • Founders Banquet (open to public) 7:30pm October 6, 2012, Columbus Convention & Trade Center
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is an International Fraternity with over 750 Undergraduate and Graduate chapters. The Fraternity was founded on November 17, 1911 by three Howard University  juniors, Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman, and their faculty adviser, Dr. Ernest Everett Just. Omega Psi Phi is the first predominantly African-American fraternity to be founded at a historically black university.

Throughout the world, many notable members are recognized as leaders in the arts, academics, athletics, entertainment, business, civil rights, education, government, and science fields. A few notable members include Roy Wilkins, Benjamin Hooks, Vernon Jordan, Dr. Robert Henry Lawrence, Jr., Rev. Jesse Jackson, William H. Hastie (U.S. Virgin Islands) and L. Douglas Wilder, Representative James Clyburn, Earl Graves, Bill Cosby, Tom Joyner, Charles Bolden, General William "Kip" Ward, Michael Jordan, 'Shaquille ONeal, Vince Carter, Steve Harvey, Rickey Smiley, and numerous presidents of colleges and universities.

To include local community Stalwarts: State Representative Calvin Symre, Muscogee County Marshall Greg Countryman, Solicitor General Ben Richardson, City Manager Isaiah Hugley,  and a plethora of military and community leaders.

    An inmate who escaped from the Troup County Jail has been taken into custody. Thomas Christopher Cuddington has been captured with the assistance of LaGrange Police Department.
