Police: Man possibly posing as door-to-door solicitor wanted for sexual assault

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Crime Stoppers and the Columbus Police Department's Sex Crimes Division is asking the public's help in finding a suspect who is wanted in connection with a sexual assault that happened last week near St. Mary's Road and Irwin Way.

Investigators say on October 4, an unidentified man entered a home where he forcibly sexually assaulted the victim.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s, around 5'8 to 6'0, slim build, weighing about 150 pounds with a bald or low "fade" hair cut. He is believed to have a dark complexion, shave or acne bumps on his face, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and sunglasses.

Authorities say the suspect may be posing as a door-to-door solicitor and has been seen carrying a brown folder, or a yellow envelope or tablet.

If you have any information that can lead to an arrest and an indictment, you could receive a reward up to $1000 and you do not have to give your name.

To leave a tip, call Valley Area Crime Stoppers at (706) 653-3188. You can also go to the Columbus Police Department's website for more information on how to submit a tip online or by a mobile device.
