WTVM 10/11/12 Editorial: Seasonal Jobs

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The holidays are right around the corner and for many that means lots of shopping.

Local residents will be happy to hear there are plenty of opportunities to get a few extra dollars in your pocket.

Hundreds of seasonal jobs are always a good way to earn some spare change this time of year, and General Electric is just one company in our area offering jobs that could turn out to be permanent.

GE Aviation construction in Auburn says it will be hiring 300 to 400 workers for their new multi-million-dollar facility.

Local retailers are also in full-hiring mode for the big holiday rush. From Toys "R" Us and Target, to Macy's and JC Penny are all looking for seasonal work that may turn into full-time work.

Recent unemployment numbers show the jobless rate fell to 7.8 percent--- the lowest number since January 2009 when it was 9 percent.

There are plenty of options out there and we've got them listed here on our website.
