SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A manhunt is ongoing for a man who fled the scene of a fatal crash on a Smith County road.

Arp Firefighters and DPS Troopers were notified around 5:30p.m. Wednesday of the incidents on CR 217, north of Farm to Market Road 850.

Our crew on the scene has been told a man and woman were in a Ford F-350 truck and lost control going around a curve, hitting a tree.

The woman was ejected and pinned underneath the truck. She died from her injuries. Firefighters believe the man got on the ATV and went down the road, crashed that vehicle and fled on foot.

Several agencies are searching a large area for that man in the area around the crash.

Authorities are searching for Justin Echols, who is in his mid-thirties. He was last seen wearing a green shirt and jeans. Echols is described as having a medium-build and light facial hair.

A justice of the peace has arrived on the scene to assist Arp firefighters, Smith County Sheriff's Deputies and Department of Public Safety Troopers.
