PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

The Supreme Court of Georgia announced Monday a Phenix City attorney has been disbarred.

Georgia's highest court said Dana Gentry, 39, failed to adequately respond to the State Bar's Notice of Investigation.  As a result, he was disbarred and suspended from practicing law in the state of Georgia.

Gentry was recently arrested in August of this year on five outstanding warrants in Lee County, AL, including first-degree theft after he failed to appear for an arraignment hearing in Lee County.

He was also arrested last September after a Lee County grand jury indicted him on charges of criminal possession of a forged instrument (felony) and criminal simulation (a misdemeanor).

Gentry made headlines last summer after rescuing a Georgia woman and her son from a rip current at Panama City Beach.
